The war in Sudan has brought unparalleled damage to Darfur's healthcare infrastructure, leaving communities without vital medical services in a region already burdened by decades of conflict and neglect. The armed violence between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) since April 2023 to date has ravaged hospitals scattered healthcare workers and ignited preventable disease outbreaks. This crisis exposes the heavy toll of conflict on the health and lives of Darfur’s population, underscoring an urgent need for humanitarian intervention.

Following the outbreak of war on April 15, 2023, between SAF and RSF, reports from national organizations and international bodies have documented a rise in violations, including kidnapping, detention, and disappearance of individuals.

The conflict between the Sudanese Army (SAF) and the rival Rapid Support Forces (RSF) that broke out in April 2023, has since turned ethnic, raising fears of a possible ethnic cleansing and Genocide.

ACJPS documents new patterns of violations and early warning signs of an escalation of armed conflict that is; attacks on civilians by the RSF in Al Gazira State consequently leading to the death and displacement of hundred residents, and the armament of civilians in Eastern Sudan and Darfur region.

The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) currently controls four out of five Darfur states. There have been reports of increased human rights violations in areas controlled by the RSF, and ACJPS expresses deep concern for the civilians in these states. In this report, ACJPS documents the violations committed against the civilians in the Darfur region between July and September 2024.

ACJPS calls upon the Sudanese authorities to carry out an independent and impartial investigation into the kidnapping and alleged torture of Ms. Ezdihar Juma, a women human rights defender.

The act of enforced disappearance, a crime against human dignity and a grave violation of human rights, has become a pressing concern in Sudan amidst the ongoing conflict between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). This crisis, which erupted in April 2023, has led to numerous reported cases of enforced disappearances, highlighting the urgent need for international intervention and adherence to the International Convention for the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearance.
